Drawing children's portraits has been an interest since the age of sixteen, when I studied with Albany portrait artist Betty Warren. I have refined my skills with graphite pencil techniques learned at Rhode Island School of Design, resulting in a work that is meticulously formal, yet captures the child's spirit as well as likeness. Since sittings aren't ideal with young children, and one photo might capture hair perfectly, and another a smile, I usually work from a selection of photos. The finished work is done on 14x17 archival plate Bristol paper. I recommend one child per drawing for inheritance purposes. I only take two commissions a month due to my publishing schedule.
